People with disabilities are disadvantaged in the use of computer technology. Many cannot afford computers, and public facilities or equipment can be inaccessible to them. Our program bridges this digital divide by collecting, refurbishing, and distributing internet-ready computers to low income people with disabilities. Our Computer Recycling Program for people with disabilities is the only program of its kind in Wisconsin. Our service area includes approximately 230,500 persons who have one or more disabiliites. The majority of the refurbishing is done by volunteers, some of the volunteers have disabilities and gain valuable training while volunteering.
